I INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE REVIEW OF REGULATION (EU) 650/2012: AFTER 10 YEARS OF APPLICATION
The Private International Law departments of the Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona and the University of Lleida, as well as the Notarial College of Catalonia, organized on 11 and 12 November 2025 in Barcelona the I INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE REVIEW OF REGULATION (EU) 650/2012: ASSESSMENT OF 10 YEARS OF APPLICATION.
Given that on 17 August 2025 ten years had passed since the European Succession Regulation became fully applicable, the organisers considered that this highly relevant milestone would be a good opportunity to take stock of the instrument's implementation. The main purpose of the scientific meeting was to combine theoretical reflection with the practical experience accumulated so far. Indeed, over these ten years, countless studies have been published on the Regulation with the aim of explaining and interpreting its provisions, while at the same time a significant -and growing- number of judicial and extrajudicial decisions issued in application of the text have been collected.
In this regard, the programme of the Congress followed the structure of Regulation 650/2012, placing special emphasis on those aspects that doctrine and, above all, case law have mainly addressed during these ten years.
